QiYi 2x2 with Fluorescent stickers

QiYi 2x2 with Fluorescent stickers is a classic 2x2 cube with a black body and fluorescent stickers. Mechanically, it's a simple budget QiYi model. What makes it stand out is its look: the colors on the black background are noticeably brighter than on regular stickers, and in the dark or under UV light (blacklight) the stickers start to glow. QiYi has also released a 3x3, a magnetic 3x3, a Pyraminx and a Mirror Cube in the same series.

How it turns

This is not a speedcubing cube. Turning is smooth, and corner cutting is good enough for relaxed, casual solving and for learning your first 2x2 methods. In this series, only the 3x3 Magnetic version has magnets, so this 2x2 doesn't have them. Because of that, the layers don't snap into place on their own, and during faster turning the cube is less stable than magnetic models. That's not a problem when you're just starting out, but once you start timing your solves, you'll quickly notice the difference.

Fluorescent stickers

The fluorescent stickers are the main reason to choose this version. In normal light they give intense, high-contrast colors, and in dim light or under a UV lamp the cube glows. It works well as a gift, a shelf decoration or something to show off to your friends. Keep in mind that these are stickers, not stickerless plastic, so with heavy use they may wear at the edges over time.

Who is it for?

For a child or an adult who is just getting started with cubes and wants an affordable 2x2 with an interesting look. It also fits nicely into a collection of glowing QiYi puzzles. For timed practice, it's better to choose a magnetic 2x2 cube, e.g. from the Warrior M or M Pro series, as they give you more control and stability at high TPS.
