QiYi 3cm Small Cube, a mini 3x3 cube

The QiYi 3cm Small Cube is a fully functional 3x3 cube, just very small. It measures about 30 mm, roughly half the size of a typical speed cube (usually 55–57 mm). It weighs only 12 g, so it fits in any pocket, pencil case or key pouch. Apart from its size, there is nothing special about it. This is a simple, inexpensive QiYi mini cube, not a miniature version of a flagship model.

How does it turn?

The mechanism works normally, and you can solve it just like any other 3x3 cube. Users point out that for such a cheap model it turns surprisingly smoothly and very quietly. It has no magnets and no tension adjustment, and corner cutting is very limited. When you turn faster, lockups happen easily, and at 30 mm your fingers have very little to grip. So don't treat it as a cube for setting records, because it isn't made for that.

For learning to solve and for practice, a regular standard-size magnetic cube is a better choice, because the mini version is simply uncomfortable during longer solving sessions.
