QiYi 4.86S Edition Mat is a speedcubing mat for practicing with a timer. The name refers to a 4.86 s 3x3 solve. The mat protects both your cube and your desk when you put the cube down with momentum at the end of a solve. Timer holders are included, so your practice station is ready right away. You can choose from three colors: Black, Green and Red.

Why use a cube mat?

At competitions, cubes are solved on a mat and the time is measured with a timer. At home, a mat helps you practice in similar conditions. The cube doesn't bang against a hard desk and doesn't slide when you put it down. Your stickers and plastic are also better protected if you accidentally drop the cube. The mat is soft, so it's comfortable to rest your cube and hands on it before starting the timer.

• The rubber base grips the desk firmly, so the mat doesn't move even when you start and stop the timer quickly.
• Holes for the timer holders are already cut out. Just insert the included holders and your timer stays firmly in place.

Which timer does it work with?

The included holders fit the QiYi timer. Speed Stacks and GAN timers, as well as some timers from other brands, cannot be mounted with the included holders. You can still use the mat with them, but the timer will simply lie on its surface.

The mat is a great choice for someone who is starting to time their solves and wants a proper practice station without spending a lot. It makes the most sense paired with a QiYi timer, because then the holders work too. It's also a good gift idea for a child who can already solve the cube and is starting to race against the clock.
