QiYi Gear Cube 6.0cm

On the outside it looks like a regular 3x3 cube, but it solves completely differently. QiYi Gear Cube 6.0cm is a Gear-type puzzle with gear-shaped pieces. When you turn one face, the gears carry the middle layer and the opposite face along with it. This means every move shifts far more pieces than on a classic 3x3. This is the full-size 60 mm version. The colors are on embedded plastic tiles, so nothing wears off or peels away.

How it turns

The gear mechanism forces a different solving rhythm. An outer layer has to make a 180° turn for the cube to return to its cube shape. The movement is smooth and jams practically never happen, which isn't always a given with gear puzzles. Buyers also praise its solid build. If it falls on a hard floor, the cube may pop apart, but you can put the pieces back together.

Is it difficult?

You can't "scramble" the shape here as much as on shape-shifting puzzles, so many people find the Gear Cube easier than a standard 3x3. The harder part is thinking in terms of moves that shift several layers at once and orienting the edge gears. The QiYi version also has one extra step compared to the original Gear Cube, so when you look for a tutorial, check that it covers this exact design. A solution guide is included.

Who is it for?

For people who already know the 3x3 and want to try something with a different mechanism, and for puzzle collectors. It also makes a great gift for a child who loves twisting cubes. The Gear Cube is not a WCA event, so it's a cube for fun and brain-teasing, not for competition training. If you want something smaller, you can choose the 5.7 cm mini version. If you want extra stability, you can choose the magnetic Gear variants from QiYi's range.

    Dosłownie 3 algorytmy by ułożyć

    Szukasz wyzwania?
