QiYi Ivy Cube Keychain

A miniature Ivy Cube puzzle in keychain form, from QiYi. We already offer keychains with 2x2 and 3x3 cubes, and the QiYi Ivy Cube Keychain is the counterpart for those who enjoy puzzles from the Skewb family. It measures about 35 mm, so it fits on your keys, in a pencil case or in a backpack pocket. The stickerless bright version has no stickers; the colors are in the plastic itself.

What is the Ivy Cube?

The Ivy Cube is a corner-turning puzzle, which means it turns around its corners, just like the Skewb. Here, however, the cuts are curved, and each face has a leaf-shaped center (hence the Chinese name Maple Leaf). It looks and solves similarly to the Skewb. At first, you need to get used to the fact that a single move shifts a large part of the puzzle. Solving it is simple: first one face, then the opposite face, and finally the centers. A bit of intuition is enough, no algorithms needed.

Keychain or full-size puzzle?

The keychain is above all a gadget and a puzzle for a quick moment. There is a metal chain with a clasp attached to one corner, which you can remove if you prefer to have just the puzzle. At such a small size, you turn it with the fingers of one hand, so for longer solving sessions a standard Ivy Cube will be more comfortable. The Ivy Cube is not a WCA event, so you can't use this model at official competitions.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already have 2x2 or 3x3 keychains and want to add something from a different puzzle family to their collection. It also works well as a small gift or a first encounter with puzzles other than the classic cube. A child can handle it without knowing any solving methods. Because of the chain and small parts, the keychain is not suitable for very young children.
