QiYi IVY Cube Plus is an enlarged version of the popular Ivy Cube. Its edge measures 90 mm, noticeably more than the standard Ivy, which fits easily in your pocket. The mechanism and the shape of the pieces are unchanged. It is still a skewb-type puzzle (shape mod) where the layers turn around the corners and the faces form distinctive leaf-shaped pieces. In our shop it is available in the stickerless bright version, made of coloured plastic with no stickers.

What is the Ivy Cube and how do you solve it?

The Ivy Cube is one of the simplest puzzles outside the classic cubes. Every move shifts a corner together with the neighbouring "leaves", so it works on a similar principle to the skewb, but solving it is shorter and easier to understand. Many people learn the Ivy in a single evening, often without a ready-made algorithm, purely by intuition. That is why the Ivy works well as a first puzzle after the 3x3, and also as a break from layered cubes for more experienced cubers.

What does the larger size give you?

The Plus version is designed mainly for casual solving, learning and display rather than breaking records. The large pieces are clearly visible, so it is easy to show someone what happens with each turn. This comes in handy when explaining the rules to a child or to a group during a class. The puzzle weighs 209 g, noticeably more than the standard Ivy, and you hold it with both hands. For fast turning the smaller version will be more comfortable, but for relaxed solving and for your shelf the larger size has its own charm.
