QiYi Ivy Mastermorphix Cube

The QiYi Ivy Mastermorphix Cube is a tetrahedron-shaped Ivy puzzle: an Ivy Cube reworked into the form of a Mastermorphix. At first glance it looks like a Pyraminx with rounded faces. The puzzle is stickerless in a bright colour scheme, with a matte (frosted) surface and a black interior. QiYi released it in 2022.

How to solve it

The shape suggests a tough puzzle, but this one is not difficult at all. You solve it the same way as Jing's Pyraminx. If you already know that puzzle, you don't need to learn anything new. Experience with the Ivy Cube, a regular Pyraminx, the Pyraminx Duo or the Magic Tower also helps, because each of these puzzles uses moves and patterns similar to those on the Ivy Mastermorphix. Solving instructions are included, so even someone just starting out with unusual shapes can handle it.

Mechanism and turning

Turning is smooth right out of the box, and the build quality is good. The puzzle has no magnets and is not designed for speedcubing, so don't expect high TPS or exceptional stability. Some users find that a little lube makes the turns even lighter. The mechanism lets you adjust the tension with screws.

Who is it for?

The Ivy Mastermorphix is a great choice if you want to add an interesting-looking shape mod to your collection without spending a long time learning algorithms. It's also a good gift for a child who has already mastered the basic cubes and is looking for something other than a 3x3. This puzzle is not approved for official WCA competitions.
