QiYi Keychain 2x2x2 Pillowed

QiYi Keychain 2x2x2 Pillowed is a small, fully functional 2x2 cube on a chain. You can clip it to your keys, backpack or pencil case. It is much smaller than a regular cube: it measures approx. 36 mm, while a standard 2x2 speedcube is usually about 50 mm. Even so, it turns normally and you can solve it from start to finish, just like any other 2x2.

Pillowed shape and turning

Pillowed means that the faces are slightly convex and the edges and corners are rounded. A cube like this sits comfortably in your hand, has no sharp corners to dig into your pocket and is well suited for carrying around. It turns smoothly, but because of its small size and rounded shape, fast finger tricks are noticeably harder than on a full-size 2x2. The cube has no magnets.

The cube is stickerless, which means the colors come from the plastic itself, not from stickers. So when you carry it in your pocket or on your keys, there is nothing to wear off or peel away.

What is it good for?

This keychain won't replace your main cube for timed practice. Instead, it works great as a 2x2 you always have with you: for some turning while waiting in line or on the bus, or for reviewing algorithms, such as CLL or the Ortega method, without taking out a full-size cube. The chain can be detached so you can use the cube on its own.

It is also a good, inexpensive gift for a child who is just starting to solve, or for a cuber who wants something related to their hobby on their keys. For learning from scratch, a regular full-size 2x2 is a better choice, as it is easier to hold and turn.
