QiYi KML 9 PCS B – set of 9 Kongming Lock puzzles

QiYi KML 9 PCS B is a set of nine puzzles from the Kongming Lock (KML) series. These are not twisty cubes. Each puzzle is made of several interlocking pieces that together form a single solid shape. First you take it apart, then you put it back together. Puzzles like these are known as burr puzzles or Luban locks. They have been known in China for hundreds of years, and QiYi has made them from colorful, transparent plastic.

How it works

Taking a puzzle apart is usually fairly easy, because all you need to do is find the piece that slides out first. Putting it back together is harder. You have to remember the order and the orientation of every piece, otherwise the shape won't close. That's why it's a good idea to look at the puzzle carefully from all sides before you start taking it apart. The transparent plastic also lets you see part of the inside, so it's easier to understand how the pieces lock together.
