QiYi M Pro 4x4 V2 Ball Core UV

The second generation of the M Pro series 4x4 in its best-equipped version, with a magnetic Ball-Core and a glossy UV coating. QiYi M Pro 4x4 V2 Ball Core UV is a magnetic 4x4 cube measuring 58.5 mm. That makes it slightly smaller than typical 4x4s, which are usually around 60 mm. We stock it in the stickerless bright version.

How it turns

Reviews describe a smooth, moderately fast and, above all, very stable cube. This is not a 4x4 built for maximum speed. It turns predictably and settles the layers into place clearly. Users point out that the Ball-Core is strong and the magnets in the inner layers are noticeably powerful. On slice moves this gives a confident, clean snap into place. If you are used to lighter, more flexible 4x4s, you may need a few sessions to adjust.

The smaller size helps if you have smaller hands and when making fast inner-layer moves.

Ball-Core, magnets and tension adjustment

• Magnetic Ball-Core. Inside the cube there is a spherical core with magnets that pulls the corner pieces from the inside. It works together with the magnets in the pieces, so the layers misalign less often and the cube flexes less in your hands. On a 4x4, which has no fixed centers, this makes a big difference.
• Classic spring tensioning. You can set the tension separately on each of the six faces.
• UV Coated. A glossy, hardened layer on the surface of the pieces gives a stronger grip than matte plastic and is more resistant to scratches.
• Internals and piece shape. The primary-colored internals and grooves that reduce pieces sticking together are designed to cut down on lockups.

Ball Core UV or the standard Magnetic version?

The M Pro 4x4 V2 also comes in a simpler Magnetic version. It has magnets in the pieces, but no Ball-Core, and it is made of matte plastic. The Ball Core UV version is more stable, has a more “solid” feel and also grips your fingers better. If you have a loose, light turning style, this extra stability will not always be an advantage.

Who is it for?

For someone who already solves the 3x3 and wants a quality first 4x4 with a Ball-Core and UV coating without going for a flagship. It also works well as a main for an intermediate cuber who prefers stability and control over maximum speed when pairing edges. A parent buying a cube for a child gets a model smaller than standard 4x4s, which makes it more comfortable in a small hand. If you want to adjust more than just the spring tension, look at more expensive models with wider adjustment options.
