QiYi Magnetic Klotski Battle

QiYi Magnetic Klotski Battle is a two-player game based on the classic klotski sliding puzzle. Here you don't solve at your own pace, because speed is what counts. Each player has their own board with sliding tiles. The dice set a random pattern, and the first player to recreate it in the centre of their board wins. The idea is similar to the well-known game Rubik's Race. The difference is that QiYi has made a magnetic version.

How to play

At the start of each round, you shake a container holding 9 dice. Once shaken, the dice settle into a 3x3 grid that sets the target colour pattern. Both players start sliding the tiles on their 5x5 boards at the same moment. The goal is to arrange the central 3x3 area exactly as shown by the dice. The outer ring of the board gives you room to manoeuvre. The remaining tiles can go anywhere there, as only the centre counts.

The rules are intuitive and can be explained in a minute. Still, the winner is the player who plans their next moves quickly and doesn't waste them sliding tiles the wrong way. If you solve klotski puzzles or cubes against the clock, you'll recognise the same kind of thinking: finding a short path to the goal and looking a few moves ahead.

What the magnets do

The board and the tiles have magnets. The tiles glide smoothly into place and don't fall out of the board, even when both players slide them fast and frantically. In a game of reflexes this really matters, because you spend less time fixing tiles that have shifted or popped out.

Who is it for?

Klotski Battle works well as a family game and as a quick match between friends. It's also a great fit for siblings or for a parent and child.
