QiYi Magnetic Klotski Halloween Escape

QiYi Magnetic Klotski Halloween Escape is a klotski sliding puzzle with a Halloween-themed board. QiYi has replaced the characters from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, familiar from the classic Chinese puzzle Huarong Dao, with Halloween motifs. The blocks feature a pumpkin, a vampire, a skeleton, a ghost, a witch, the "QY girl" character and bats. The puzzle was released in June 2020.

How the puzzle works

This is not a numbered klotski where you arrange tiles in order. Here the blocks come in different sizes, and the task is more like an escape room. There is very little free space on the board, so you have to slide the blocks to clear a path for the largest piece and lead it out through the exit. You will often need to go back and rearrange several blocks before the way opens up. That is why planning a few moves ahead helps more with this puzzle than fast fingers.

The set includes a solution booklet. If you get stuck or are buying the puzzle for a child, you can use it to reach the goal step by step.

Magnetic version

According to the manufacturer's designation, this version has magnets. In other QiYi magnetic klotski puzzles, they help pull the blocks into place, which makes sliding smoother and keeps the pieces from shifting during faster solving. The board has a flat, enclosed design just under 2 cm thick. It is easy to hold in your hands, but you can also solve it on a table.
