QiYi O2 Cube Spinner Version

QiYi O2 Cube Spinner Version is a very simple 1x1 puzzle with a fidget spinner function. From the outside it looks like a 53 mm cube with a round, colored center on each face. These centers are the only moving parts. You slide them up, down, left or right, and that is how you scramble or solve the cube. The Spinner version has a bearing in every center, so you can also simply spin a center like a fidget spinner.

How it works and how to solve it

The centers never change their positions relative to each other. Moving one of them shifts all the colors at once, as if a ball hidden inside the shell were rotating. That's why the O2 can't be scrambled very much: the cube is always just a few moves away from solved, and it's easy to figure out the solution on your own. The centers have finger dimples for a better grip. There are no algorithms to learn and nothing that resembles speedcubing. It's more of a gadget to keep your hands busy than a challenge.

Spinner or standard version?

Both O2 versions are solved the same way. The difference is that in the Spinner version the centers are mounted on bearings and spin freely. In the standard version, the centers are only for sliding. If you want the cube mainly as a fidget toy to spin in your fingers at your desk or while studying, choose the Spinner version.

Who is it for?

It's a nice small gift or add-on to your order for a child who is starting to get interested in puzzles, and for anyone who likes fidget toys. An experienced cuber will see it more as a curiosity for a 1x1 collection. The cube is not allowed in official WCA competitions.
