It looks like a regular Pyraminx, but it is much easier to solve. QiYi Pyraminx Lite is a tetrahedron-shaped puzzle, also known as the Pyraminx Duo. It has only 8 pieces: 4 corners and 4 triangular face centers. You turn it only by the corners, and each corner move takes the neighboring centers along with it. There are no edges or separate tips, so the number of possible positions is small.

How it differs from the classic Pyraminx

The standard Pyraminx is a WCA event that requires you to learn a specific method. The Lite version does not. Every scramble can be solved in just a few moves, and many people figure out the solution on their own by trial and error. It is more of a warm-up and fun puzzle than gear for competition training. If you want to practice Pyraminx for time, choose the full version of this puzzle.

How it turns

The corners snap between positions with a clear click, so it is hard to leave a piece halfway through a move. Users praise the smooth turning and the way the mechanism settles the pieces into place on its own without much resistance. The puzzle has no magnets, but with such a simple design they are not needed.
