This is an oversized 3x3 cube from QiYi in a magnetic version. QiYi QiMeng Plus M has an edge length of approx. 9 cm, so it is noticeably bigger than a regular 3x3 cube, which measures approx. 56 mm. The letter "M" in the name stands for magnets, and that is exactly what sets this version apart from the standard QiMeng Plus. The cube is stickerless, in the Stickerless Bright color scheme.

How does a big 3x3 cube solve?

Many oversized cubes are bought mainly for their size, and the mechanism barely matters. The QiMeng Plus does better in this respect. Reviewers say that despite its size it turns well and has decent corner cutting, so you can solve it normally, even against the clock. Keep in mind, though, that a 9 cm cube needs a different grip and different finger tricks than a 56 mm model. If you are used to the regular size, you will need a moment to adjust, and you should not expect your usual times on it.

M version or non-magnetic?

In the magnetic version, the layers snap into place by themselves after a turn with a noticeable "click". This makes it easier to align the layers and move smoothly into the next turn. The non-magnetic version turns slower and less precisely. If you want the cube for solving and not just for display on a shelf, the M version makes more sense.

Who is it for?

This big 3x3 cube works well for learning. With large pieces, it is easier to show moves and algorithms to someone who is just learning a method, for example a child or a group in class. It is also a great gift idea for someone who already has a regular 3x3 and wants something different for their collection. For competitions and regular timed practice, a standard-size cube is a better choice.
