QiYi QiMeng V2 3x3

QiYi QiMeng V2 3x3 is an affordable non-magnetic 3x3 cube from the QiMeng series, QiYi's budget line for beginners. There are no tension adjustment systems or flagship technologies here. What you get is a simple speedcube that turns noticeably lighter than a typical supermarket cube. The Stickerless Bright version is made of coloured plastic with no stickers, so nothing can peel off or wear away.

How it turns

The QiMeng V2 is on the fast side. The feel is slightly scratchy, so you notice a little resistance when turning and you can hear the plastic. The pieces have "anti-stick" grooves that reduce lockups and help keep turning smooth. Corner cutting is good enough for learning your first methods and relaxed solving. However, don't expect the level of forgiveness and stability that more expensive cubes offer.

The cube has no magnets, so the layers don't snap into place on their own. With faster turning, overshooting and slightly misaligned layers are more likely. For a beginner this isn't a problem and it even teaches more precise moves. Anyone who starts chasing faster times after a few weeks usually moves on to a magnetic cube.

Non-magnetic or magnetic?

In a similar low price range, QiYi also offers magnetic cubes, for example the Warrior M. Magnets give a clear "click" with every move and better control at higher TPS. A non-magnetic version like the QiMeng V2 is simpler and turns more lightly. It's a good fit for learning to solve for the first time or as a backup cube you won't mind carrying in your backpack.

Who is it for?

As a first cube for a child or an adult, for learning to solve with the beginner's method, or as a small gift. It also works well as a cube for school or for travel. A speedcuber looking for a main to train for times will be better off with a magnetic cube with tension adjustment.
