QiYi Tiled IVY Cube is QiYi's Ivy Cube with colored plastic tiles instead of stickers. The Ivy Cube is a Skewb shape mod that QiYi released in collaboration with Eitan. The puzzle has only two types of pieces: the corners, which turn, and the leaf-shaped centers on the faces. This makes it a good choice when you're starting out with puzzles other than the 3x3.

How it turns and how to solve it

The Ivy turns much like a Skewb. The layers rotate around axes that pass through the corners, so the moves go diagonally rather than parallel to the faces. It looks less familiar than a 3x3 cube, but there are only a few pieces. Solving the Ivy Cube is much easier than solving a Skewb, and most people can figure it out without algorithms. It's great practice for intuitive solving and a good puzzle for kids who already know the regular cube.

According to customer reviews, the tiled version turns smoothly and feels stable. There are no magnets, so the layers don't "click" into place and you need to align them more precisely than on the magnetic versions.

Tiles instead of stickers

The color comes from a tile set into the piece, not from vinyl film. There are no edges that could peel off or wear down, so the colors hold up well to frequent solving. The puzzle is well suited to carrying in a backpack and to younger users.

Tiled or magnetic?

The QiYi Ivy Cube comes in several versions: standard, Tiled, magnetic (Ivy Cube M), also with a UV coating, and the transparent Icy Amber with tiles. The Tiled version is the magnet-free option: simple and durable. If you want more predictable turning and enjoy solving the Ivy for time, you'll feel more at home with the M version. For learning, fun and collecting, the Tiled version is more than enough.
