QiYi Training Mat for speedcubing

The QiYi Training Mat is a large-format speedcubing practice mat measuring 74 x 29.5 cm and 3 mm thick. It has room for a timer, with plenty of space left for your cube and hands. At WCA competitions, solves are done on a mat with a timer, so practicing at a similar setup at home helps you get used to competition conditions. The mat comes in two colors: Blue and Green.

Protects your cubes when you put them down

At the end of a solve, you usually put the cube down quickly to stop the timer as fast as possible. On a bare desk, this can easily scratch the plastic or damage the stickers. At 3 mm, this mat is slightly thicker than many typical mats, which are around 2 mm. This helps it cushion the impact of the cube hitting the table better. It also gives you a consistent, even surface for inspection and solving, no matter what desk you practice on.

Timer mounting

The set includes two timer holders. They come unmounted, so you need to screw them on with an ordinary Phillips screwdriver. They are a standard size, so they fit most popular speedcubing timers. With the timer attached to the mat, it won't slide around when you start and stop it.

Size and desk space

At 74 cm wide, this mat is longer than QiYi's compact training mats, which measure around 49 x 30 cm. If you have plenty of desk space, that's an advantage: the mat can also serve as a mouse and keyboard pad. On a small desk or in a competition bag, a smaller format will work better.

Who is it for?

For cubers who practice with a timer and want a competition-like setup at home. The mat is also useful for beginners and kids, as it protects cubes from knocking against the desk. It's a simple accessory with no electronics, so the timer must be purchased separately.
