ShengShou (SengSo) 7x7 Magic Tower

SengSo 7x7 Magic Tower by ShengShou is a puzzle shaped like a tetrahedron with rounded faces. Inside it uses a 7x7 cube mechanism, and since the whole puzzle is pyramid-shaped, shops sometimes call it a 7x7 pyramid or a 7x7 "Jing Pyraminx". It is a bigger version of the classic ShengShou Magic Tower, with a design similar to morphix puzzles. Colour scheme: stickerless bright.

How it differs from a regular 7x7

The mechanism is the same as in a 7x7, so you solve it in a similar way: centers first, then edges, and finally a 3x3 stage. The catch is that the puzzle has only four faces, and the pieces come in different shapes and sizes. If you solve the centers the "cube way", the last centers turn out to be especially tricky, because they are harder to recognise and match. The Magic Tower looks similar to the Mastermorphix, but it solves completely differently. On the Mastermorphix you turn around the edges, while here the layers turn around the faces.

How it turns

Reviewers describe it as stable, with a smooth feel right out of the box. It is not a puzzle built for TPS, but for calm, careful solving. With this shape and number of layers, what matters most is that the layers don't misalign and the mechanism turns evenly.

Who is it for?

For people who can solve a 7x7 (or at least a 5x5) and are looking for a bigger challenge. It will also appeal to collectors of shape mods and larger ShengShou puzzles. Without knowing the reduction method for big cubes, solving this pyramid will be very hard. If you're just starting out, the smaller Magic Tower or a regular 4x4 or 5x5 cube is a better choice.
