ShengShou (SengSo) 7x7 Mastermorphix Cube

SengSo 7x7 Mastermorphix is a 7x7 cube reshaped into a tetrahedron. The mechanism is the same as in a regular seven-layer cube, but the pieces vary in shape and size. Once scrambled, the puzzle loses its shape and turns into a pile of uneven blocks. This Mastermorphix is made by ShengShou, and SengSo is the name of its puzzle line. The manufacturer released it in 2020. This listing is the stickerless bright version.

How it turns

Turning is smooth and the puzzle holds together well, which matters a lot for a 7x7 shape mod. When layers stick out unevenly, it is harder to feel whether a layer is properly aligned. Corner cutting plays a smaller role here than in a speedcube. Nobody solves this puzzle against the clock at a high TPS, so what counts most is predictable, stable layer movement. A full solve takes a long time, so a puzzle that turns without resistance is easier on your hands.

Tension adjustment

Tension is set with screws, just like in classic big ShengShou cubes. You can keep the factory setting or tighten the layers a little if you prefer more stable turning.

Who is it for?

For cubers who can already solve a 7x7 cube and want to try the same method in a more challenging form. With a shape mod, looking at colors is not enough - you also need to recognize pieces by their shape. It is also a great pick for collectors of shape-shifting puzzles and as a display piece, since it looks unusual when solved. We do not recommend it as a first cube. If you are just starting out, it is better to master a regular 3x3 first, then a smaller Mastermorphix. This model is not permitted in official WCA competitions.
