The first version (V1) of the SengSo Crazy 3x3 by ShengShou looks like a regular 3x3 with slightly rounded (pillowed) faces, but each face has a circular ring. Inside each circle there are 5 pieces: the center and four pieces around it. The rings don't turn together with their faces, so while solving you run into situations that never happen on a classic cube. It's a small variation on the 3x3, not a completely new puzzle.

How to solve the Crazy 3x3

The solving method is the same as for a classic 3x3, but you solve two things independently: the cube itself and the circles with the centers. You need to figure out how your moves shift the ring pieces and come up with a few sequences of your own. People who have already solved it say it's easier than they expected. If you can solve a regular 3x3, you'll manage this one without much trouble, although it does take some thinking.

For a cube with extra pieces, the Crazy 3x3 turns quite well. Users praise the turning and say popping is rare. Still, it's not on the level of a regular magnetic speed cube. One review mentions that the mechanism is noisy. You can change the tension with the adjustment screws.

Who is it for?

For anyone who can already solve a 3x3 and wants something new without jumping to much harder puzzles. It's also a great affordable addition to a collection of unusual cubes. The Crazy 3x3 is not a cube for timed practice and is not used in WCA events. If you're looking for a bigger challenge, try the V2 version, which has nine pieces in each ring.
