SengSo Emoji Puzzle by ShengShou is not a speedcubing puzzle. It's a fast-paced dexterity game played with cubes. The set includes 16 cubes in 4 colors and a deck of cards showing different emoji. The faces of the cubes show parts of faces. Players rotate, rearrange and arrange the cubes so that together they form the expression shown on the card. Nothing twists here like on a 3x3 cube. What counts is observation, spatial imagination and quick reflexes.

How to play

The game is for 2 to 4 players. Each player gets 4 cubes in one color. The oldest player goes first and turns over the first card from the pile. From that moment, everyone rotates, combines and arranges their cubes at the same time to recreate the face on the card. Whoever builds the correct picture first takes the card. The first player to collect 10 cards wins.

You can also use the cubes without the cards. Just build your own, sometimes rather strange combinations of faces, which works well for younger children.

Who is it for?

Emoji Puzzle makes a great family game and a gift for a child who enjoys brain teasers but can't solve a 3x3 cube yet. The rules take a minute to explain and a round is short, so it's easy to play several times in a row. Speedcubers can treat it as a casual game for meetups, but it's not a puzzle for training. There's no mechanism, no magnets and no tension adjustment, and the difficulty depends only on how fast your opponents are.
