SengSo Legend S2 Pyraminx is an affordable, simple pyraminx from ShengShou's budget Legend series. SengSo is the name under which ShengShou sells some of its products. The S2 is the newer model in this line and is noticeably lighter than the original Legend Pyraminx and the Metallic version. We sell it in the stickerless bright version: the faces are made of colored plastic, so there are no stickers to wear off or peel.

How it works

The layers align thanks to a simple notch and groove system, which helps keep them in line after each move. This is a mechanical solution, not magnets. When turning, you can feel the layers lightly snap into place, but there is no distinct "click" like on magnetic pyraminxes. At 45 g, the puzzle feels light in your hand and is easy to turn quickly.

Legend S2 vs. other pyraminxes

The earlier Legend Pyraminx and the Metallic version weigh approx. 77-85 g. The S2 weighs 45 g, which is almost half as much. If you want to practice pyraminx seriously and are looking for stronger layer stabilization, a magnetic model is usually the better choice. In the ShengShou range, that's for example the Legend Pyraminx Magnetic (Metallic). The Legend S2 is more of a puzzle for learning and casual solving.

Who is it for?

It works well as a first pyraminx, especially for a child or someone who just wants to find out whether they'll enjoy this puzzle. It's also a nice addition to a collection or a spare to keep in your bag. The pyraminx is simpler than a 3x3 cube, and many people learn to solve it in a single evening. That's why an inexpensive puzzle without magnets is a sensible choice to start with.
