SengSo Master Pyraminx by ShengShou is a bigger, more complex version of the classic Pyraminx. It has 4 layers on every axis, and speedcubers often simply call it the 4x4 Pyraminx. The shape stays the same, but there are many more pieces to solve. The puzzle is stickerless in a bright colour scheme, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel.

How it differs from a regular Pyraminx

On a classic Pyraminx, once you have solved the tips and centres, only a few edges remain and the solve is over quickly. On the Master Pyraminx, the edges are made up of several pieces that you first need to pair up before you can solve them. It feels more like solving a 4x4 cube with the reduction method than solving a regular Pyraminx. The tips turn independently, just like on the 3-layer version, so that step will feel familiar.

The Master Pyraminx is not a WCA event. It is a puzzle for people looking for a new challenge or building a puzzle collection, not gear for setting times at competitions. To practise the official Pyraminx event, choose a standard model.

Size and weight

The edge of the puzzle measures approx. 82.5 mm, so the Master Pyraminx is noticeably larger than a typical speedcubing Pyraminx. With several layers per axis, the larger size makes the smaller pieces easier to grip. The puzzle itself weighs approx. 106 g.

Who is it for?

For anyone who has already mastered the regular Pyraminx and wants something harder in the same shape. It is also a great fit for cubers who solve the 4x4 and want to apply the techniques they know to a different shape. For a first pyramid-shaped puzzle, especially for a child, it is better to start with the classic Pyraminx and come back to the Master version later.
