SengSo Metallic 4x4x4 is a 4x4 cube from ShengShou that differs from the standard model mainly in its looks. The faces have a metallic, mirror-like coating, while inside there is a standard plastic mechanism. International distributors also sell it as the ShengShou Legend 4x4 Metallic, which makes it the metallic version of the budget Legend 4x4. The cube has no magnets, and we offer it in the Stickerless Bright colour scheme.

Looks come first

The coloured faces have a metallic sheen that reflects light. On a shelf, the cube looks completely different from a regular stickerless cube, and that is the main reason people choose this model. Under the coating it is plastic, so the cube weighs no more than a typical 4x4. According to our data, it weighs about 155 g. Fingerprints show more easily on the glossy surface than on matte plastic, so it is worth wiping it with a soft cloth from time to time.

How it turns

This is a cube without magnets, so the layers do not snap into place on their own. You need to align them more precisely as you turn, and lining them up before the next move is entirely up to you. It is good enough for relaxed, casual solving and for learning the reduction method. If you time your solves and want to get noticeably faster, you will quickly notice the difference compared with magnetic 4x4 cubes. A magnetic cube gives you more stability and fewer lockups when turning faster.
