SengSo Metallic Evil Eyes is ShengShou's version of the Ivy Cube with a metallic finish. There is an indentation in the center of each of the six faces. These give the puzzle its "Evil Eyes" name, and they also give your fingers something to grip. The cube is stickerless, so there are no stickers. The plastic is colored throughout and has a metallic sheen that sets it apart from the regular Evil Eyes.

How the Ivy Cube works

The Ivy doesn't turn in layers like a classic 3x3 cube. It turns around its corners. Four corners move, and the other four are permanently fixed to the mechanism. Each move turns a corner together with the three leaf-shaped centers next to it. There are only a few pieces, so the Ivy is considered one of the simpler puzzles of this type. Most people solve it intuitively without memorizing algorithms, although the diagonal turns take some getting used to at first. The mechanism is like a simplified Skewb. If you know the Skewb, you'll feel at home right away. If you don't, the Ivy makes a gentle introduction to corner-turning puzzles.

Finish and design

• Indentations in the face centers help you grip the cube and turn it at different speeds.
• Metallic plastic shines more than the regular matte Evil Eyes. The mechanism and shape are the same; the difference is mainly visual.
• No magnets. This is a classic, simple design without any additional stabilization systems.
