The colors on this cube aren't stickers or ordinary colored plastic. Every face has a glossy coating with a metallic shine, which makes the cube look almost like a mirror. SengSo Metallic M 3x3 is the magnetic version of ShengShou's metallic cube (SengSo is this manufacturer's brand). Outside Poland it is also sold as the ShengShou Legend 3x3 M Metallic. The letter M in the name stands for magnets. The cube was released in 2023.

How it turns

The mechanism comes from the budget Legend series. The magnets help the layers settle into place and make your turns feel more secure than on a regular non-magnetic cube. Users describe the turning as smooth and clearly better than a classic 3x3 cube from a toy store. However, this is not a cube for chasing records. Corner cutting is average, and catching can happen during faster solves. If you want to improve your times, you'll be better off with a dedicated magnetic speedcubing model.

The metallic finish in practice

The coating looks impressive on a shelf and in your hand, but it is glossy, so fingerprints show up quickly. Clean, dry hands make a big difference here. On top of that, light reflections can make it a bit harder to recognize colors at first, especially under strong lighting.

Metallic M or non-magnetic Metallic?

The cube comes in two versions with the same look: magnetic (M) and non-magnetic. The M version is more stable and easier to control because the layers settle into place on their own. The non-magnetic version is cheaper and makes the most sense as a decorative cube or a first puzzle for learning.
