SengSo Mirror Crazy 2x2

SengSo Mirror Crazy 2x2 by ShengShou combines two puzzles in one cube. The first is a mirror cube: all pieces are the same colour and differ only in height. The second is a Crazy 2x2: every face has a circle, which means extra pieces that also get scrambled and need to be solved. The cube comes in a single colour, blue, and measures approx. 57 mm per side.

What makes it challenging

On a regular 2x2 cube, the colours show you right away where each piece belongs. Here there are no colours, so you recognise a piece's position by its shape and height. When solved, the cube is a regular cube shape again. When scrambled, it turns into a block with uneven faces. The circles on the faces add a second task. Some of them turn together with the layer and some don't. So you need to keep track not only of the corners but also of how the circles are oriented.

The solving method is the same as for the coloured version of the Crazy 2x2. The difference is that you have to judge the shape of every piece, which makes the mirror version harder. If you already know the Crazy 2x2, you won't need to learn any new algorithms. The real work is recognising the pieces quickly.

Who is it for?

This cube is for people who can already solve a 2x2 or 3x3 and want something different from yet another speed cube. It's a great addition to a shape mod collection and a puzzle for relaxed solving. It is not a cube for setting time records, and it is not a WCA event. For a child's first cube, it's better to choose a classic 2x2 and get the Mirror Crazy later as the next challenge.

Important for every 2x2 cube: don't pry or force-twist the corners, as you could break a piece.
