MoSheng is ShengShou's budget cube series, released under the SengSo brand. It covers both the popular sizes and very large cubes, all the way up to 17x17. The SengSo MoSheng 5x5 is an affordable 5x5 cube in the stickerless bright version. The manufacturer has set it up so you can start solving straight out of the box, without lubing it or adjusting the tension yourself.

Construction

• Pieces approx. 2 mm thick and a reinforced internal structure. The stiffer pieces are meant to reduce popping and deformation, which happen more often on a 5x5 than on smaller cubes.
• Factory lubed and adjusted. The cube goes into the box already lubed and set up, so you don't need to tweak anything before your first solves.
• Stickerless bright. The colors are in the plastic itself, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel.

What to expect

This is an entry-level, budget cube, and it's best to treat it that way. It doesn't have the advanced tension adjustment systems or the refined setup of flagship 5x5 cubes designed for competitions. What it does well is what most people buy their first 5x5 for: learning the reduction method, meaning solving the centers, pairing the edges and finishing the cube like a 3x3. If after longer use the cube starts turning too loosely or too heavily, tightening or loosening the screws in the centers and adding fresh lube usually helps.

Who is it for?

For anyone who has already mastered the 3x3 (and maybe the 4x4) and wants to try the 5x5 without spending a lot. It also works well as a first bigger cube for a child, a spare cube for your backpack or an addition to your MoSheng series collection. If you train 5x5 for time and are aiming for serious results, sooner or later you'll probably reach for a more expensive model with more adjustment options.
