SengSo Timer V4

SengSo Timer V4

SengSo Timer V4 by ShengShou is a speedcubing timer with the layout you know from competitions: two touch pads on the sides and a display in the middle. It measures time to 0.001 s and saves your result. You don't need a phone or computer to practice, and your starts and stops work just like they do at a tournament.

How to use it

Place both hands on the touch pads and wait for the ready light to come on. The timer starts when you lift your hands. When you finish the cube, put your hands back on the pads to stop the time. You can save the result with a separate button and use the reset button to clear the timer before your next solve. All buttons and the power switch are in one place, so you'll get used to them quickly.

This kind of practice makes sense even if you normally time yourself in an app. You train starting and stopping with your hands, a movement that becomes automatic at competitions. An app timer can't train this.

What's new in V4

• New chip and mainboard. According to the manufacturer, the timer runs more stably and is more convenient for everyday use.
• Sensitive touch pads. Under the pads there are sensors in the form of several strips. They detect touch faster, so there is less error when starting and stopping.
• Anti-slip pads across the whole bottom. The timer stays firmly on the table and doesn't slide when you put your hands down hard after a solve.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants their first physical cube timer, and for parents looking for a simple gift for a child learning to solve against the clock. It's intuitive and needs no setup. Speedcubers will find it useful for home sessions or as a backup timer for trips. Just keep in mind that this is not a WCA-approved model. At official competitions, results are timed on the organizer's equipment. If you want to keep statistics and calculate averages, the easiest way is to enter your results into an app.
