SengSo YuFeng 3x3x3 V2 is a refreshed version of the magnetic 3x3 cube from the YuFeng line. The cube is made by ShengShou, and SengSo is the brand name under which its newer models are released. The second generation keeps the solutions from V1 and gets an improved mechanism, so it turns better right out of the box. You can easily recognize the V2 by the new YuFeng logo on the center piece. It is available in a stickerless version with bright colors.

How it turns

The YuFeng V2 feels more controllable than a typical "racing" cube. It turns fast, but it doesn't slip out from under your fingers. The magnets in the corners play a big role here, as they are attracted to the magnetic core. The layers hold their position more steadily, and during fast turning it is easier to avoid overshooting. Out of the box the cube performs well, but this is not its final feel. After applying a medium-viscosity lube it turns noticeably smoother and quieter. Beginners can start solving right away. More experienced cubers will probably choose their own lube and settings anyway.

Magnets and adjustment

• Magnets in the pieces: standard magnets between the edges and corners that help the layers snap into place.
• Magnetic core: the corners are additionally attracted to the center of the cube. This solution is similar to Ball-Core in more expensive models. It gives more stability and control.
• MagLev: according to distributors, layer tension is provided by magnets instead of classic springs.
• Manual compression adjustment, no screwdriver needed.

Who is it for?

This is a good cube for someone who wants to move from their first, simple cube to a magnetic model with features known from more expensive cubes. It also works well as a cheaper backup or practice cube for anyone who likes a stable, controlled feel. A parent buying a cube for their child gets a model on which they can comfortably learn to solve and keep improving their speed. An experienced speedcuber looking for a cube with very extensive adjustment options and a UV coating should rather look at the higher-end segment.
