The Shengshou 6x6x6 Mr.M comes in a stickerless bright version and has a fairly classic design. The body is compact and has a pillow shape (rounded, slightly convex faces). It sits comfortably in your hand, but when you solve for time, this shape gets in the way more than the flat faces of newer 6x6 cubes.

Magnets in the outer layers only

Before you buy, you should know that only the outer layers have magnets. They mainly help during the 3x3 stage, and there are none at all for center and edge reduction. This cube is hard to compare with newer, fully magnetic 6x6 models.

How it turns

The weak point of this model is turning the inner layers. The cube catches on inner layer turns, and lockups and catching happen easily, especially when you turn faster. Out of the box, the turning is rather rough and slow. Users report that after lubing and breaking it in, the layers turn noticeably smoother, although the lockups don't disappear completely. Tension is adjusted with tension screws, so if the cube catches, it's worth checking right away whether loosening it slightly helps.

Who is it for?

The Mr.M 6x6 is a cube for getting started with bigger cubes and for casual solving. It works well for learning reduction and for relaxed solving at home. It is officially allowed in competitions, but if you want to practice 6x6 for speed, you'll quickly feel its limitations: the pillow shape, magnets on the outside only and catching in the middle layers. For speed practice, it's better to choose a newer 6x6 with magnets in all layers.
