A 2x2 Skewb? That's a quick way to describe this puzzle. ShengShou Evil Eyes is ShengShou's take on the Ivy Cube. It's the size of a regular 3x3 cube, but it turns around the corners, just like a Skewb. Each face consists of only two corners and a leaf-shaped center piece. That's why the Ivy is one of the simplest shape-shifting puzzles and a great first step beyond classic cubes.

How it differs from a regular Ivy Cube

The name comes from the indentations on the center pieces. Each of the six faces has an "eye" in the middle that gives you a better grip while solving, whether you turn slowly or faster. Apart from that, it's a classic Ivy with no magnets and no UV coating, in a stickerless bright color scheme.

How it turns

The puzzle turns smoothly right out of the box, with no issues you'd need to fight at the start. Stability comes from a ball-core system, but instead of separate metal balls, ShengShou used bumps molded into the plastic. You can change the tension with the adjustment screws if you prefer a looser or tighter setup.

Who is it for?

Evil Eyes is a great choice if you can already solve a 3x3 and want to try something different without learning long algorithms. It's also a good puzzle for kids who enjoy brain teasers and an interesting addition to any collection. The Ivy is not a WCA event, so this puzzle isn't used at official competitions.
