ShengShou Infinity Cube

ShengShou Infinity Cube is a fidget toy shaped like a small cube that looks a bit like a 2x2 cube. It works in a completely different way from a 3x3 puzzle cube, though. It consists of eight small cubes permanently joined together with hinges. You can fold and unfold the blocks in a fixed pattern, and the whole cycle can be repeated endlessly. That's where the name infinity cube comes from. There is nothing to solve here, and you can't "break" or scramble it. It's all about turning it in your hand.

How an infinity cube works

When you unfold the cube in one direction, a new arrangement appears that can be opened again, and so on, over and over. After a few moves the cube returns to its cube shape and the cycle starts again. The moves quickly become muscle memory, so after a while you turn it without looking and without thinking. That's exactly what it's for: it keeps your hands busy while your mind is busy with something else.

What it's good for

People buy an infinity cube mainly to relieve stress or to focus more easily. It works well while studying, during phone calls, while working at your desk or when travelling. You can easily turn it with one hand while writing or scrolling through notes with the other. It measures just 40 mm and weighs approx. 70 g, so it fits in your pocket and doesn't take up space on your desk.

For a speedcuber, it's more of a gadget for breaks between solves than a training tool. You won't practise algorithms or TPS on it. For someone who doesn't solve cubes but likes having something in their hands, it's a simple, inexpensive fidget that requires no learning at all.

Colour versions

Two solid-colour versions are available in our shop: Black and White. The mechanism is the same in both; they differ only in the colour of the plastic. ShengShou also offers a separate Magnetic Infinity Cube series with magnets and printed patterns. It should not be confused with this model.
