ShengShou Legend 2x2x2 is an affordable, non-magnetic 2x2 cube that's a good place to start solving the 2x2. It measures 50 mm, weighs approx. 57 g and is legal for official competitions. It isn't a record-breaking cube. It works well, though, if you want to learn to solve the 2x2 without spending money on a magnetic model straight away.

How it turns

The Legend 2x2 has no magnets, so the layers don't snap into place on their own and you need to align them more precisely than on magnetic cubes. User opinions are mixed. Some praise the pleasant turning right out of the box and say the cube works even better after lubing. Others point out weak corner cutting and lockups during fast, less precise turning. In practice, the Legend handles calm solving and learning algorithms well. As your TPS goes up, its limitations will become more and more noticeable.

Tension adjustment

Tension is set with adjustment screws. A looser setting gives faster turning, while a tighter one helps reduce uncontrolled layer movements. A good cube lube also improves smoothness, especially after the first few weeks of use.

Colour variants

The cube is available in three versions: with a black body (Black), with a white body (White) and a stickerless version (Stickerless Bright) made of coloured plastic. The mechanism is the same in all versions; only the look is different.

Who is it for?

For beginners, kids and anyone who just wants to find out whether the 2x2 will get them hooked. It also works well as a second cube for your backpack or a spare training cube. If you're already timing your solves and want better corner cutting and stability, consider a magnetic 2x2. Magnets make control during fast solving much easier.
