ShengShou Mr. M 7x7 is a budget magnetic 7x7 cube with a pillow shape. It has magnets only in the outer layers, and the inner layers can catch. It is a good choice for learning the 7x7 and for casual solving, but not for speedsolving.

ShengShou Mr. M 7x7 is a magnetic 7x7x7 cube with a pillow shape (the faces are slightly convex and the whole cube is rounded). It belongs to the budget Mr. M series, and for many people it is their first 7x7. We only stock the stickerless version in the bright colour scheme, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel.How does the Mr. M 7x7 turn?
The magnets are only in the outer layers, and they are fairly strong. This makes turning on the outer faces clicky, and the cube finishes moves on its own. The inner layers have no magnets, and this is where the cube is clearly weaker: inner slice moves can cause jams and catching. You will notice this most when solving the centres and pairing the edges. Straight out of the box, the cube can be quite tight, so it is worth loosening it with the adjustment screws and lubing it. After this setup, it turns noticeably lighter.The pillow shape has its fans because the cube sits nicely in your hands, but for speedsolving it is less comfortable than flat faces. To be honest, this is not a 7x7 for breaking records, and it should not be compared with flagship magnetic 7x7 cubes.
Who is it for?
The Mr. M 7x7 is a good fit if you want to learn to solve a 7x7 or solve one casually, without spending a lot to get started. It also makes a great gift for a child who has already mastered smaller cubes, and a nice collection piece for fans of the pillow shape. If you plan to solve 7x7 for time regularly, we recommend looking for a cube with magnets in all layers and flat faces.Specifications
