ShengShou Pentagram Spinner is a fidget puzzle that combines two things: a flat floppy-type puzzle and a spinner mechanism. It is based on a 3x3x1 puzzle, but it has a pentagonal shape, so it looks more like a single-layer Megaminx than a classic flat cube. The center works like a fidget spinner. You can simply spin it, and whenever you feel like it, scramble the colors and solve the puzzle back.

How it turns
Layer turns are smooth and cause no major problems. The spinner also spins without catching. Super floppy moves are trickier. The design lets you turn layers in a way that changes the puzzle's shape, but these moves are easy to make by accident while solving and hard to master afterwards. If you only want to spin the spinner or scramble the colors, you don't need to worry about this. If you want to solve the puzzle after it changes shape too, expect it to take more time.

Who it's for
The Pentagram Spinner is more of a gadget than speedcubing gear. It is not allowed in official competitions, and there is no point comparing it with speed cubes. It works well as something to keep your hands busy at your desk, a small gift or an addition to a collection of unusual puzzles. Thanks to its flat design and simple color scheme, it is also a good choice for kids who are just getting to know puzzles. The tension can be adjusted with screws, so you can set it to your own preference.
