Single-Sided Magnetic Bean is a puzzle with balls. The goal is easy to explain: you need to separate the balls into two colors. You don't need any algorithms to solve it. Planning your next moves matters more, so even someone who has never solved a 3x3 cube can handle this puzzle. As the name suggests, this is the single-sided, magnetic version.

How it works

At the start, the balls of both colors are mixed up. You need to move them around so that each color ends up in its own group. You'll understand the rule right away, but the challenge comes from the fact that moving one ball changes the position of others. That's why it usually takes a few attempts before you can solve it from start to finish without random trial and error. In this respect, it's a different kind of effort than a 3x3 cube, where most of the time you perform memorized sequences.

Shape and variants

The puzzle is flat. It is 2.75 cm high, measures roughly 12.9 x 11 cm and weighs 77 g. It easily fits in a backpack or bag, so it's great for solving while traveling or during a break. Our shop offers two color variants: Blue and Green.

Who is it for?

This puzzle is a good fit for anyone who enjoys logic puzzles and wants something different from yet another cube. It also makes a great gift for a child who is just starting out with puzzles, as the rule is clear without reading any instructions. Speedcubers can treat it as a break from training. Keep in mind, however, that this is a recreational puzzle. It is not a WCA event, so there are no times or rankings like with cubes.
