Zcube Time Machine Arabic numbers is a shape mod puzzle built on a 2x2 mechanism. You turn the layers just like on a classic 2x2 cube, but each face also has a rotating dial that turns independently of the layers. This version is marked with Arabic numerals. The model is also available with Roman numerals (Roman Numbers). Both versions have the same mechanism and differ only in the markings. The cube is stickerless, so the face colors come from the plastic itself and there are no stickers to wear off.

How to solve it

The cube part is a regular 2x2. If you can solve a classic 2x2, you can handle this part without learning any new algorithms. The dials are what make it harder. After scrambling, you have to solve the layers and also set every dial to the correct position. The unusual shape and the numbers on the faces also make the scrambled cube look less familiar than a regular 2x2, so it's easy to get lost at first, even if you know your method by heart.

This is a puzzle for fun and for your collection, not a cube for breaking records. It isn't a WCA event, and it makes no sense to compare it with magnetic speedcubing 2x2s in terms of TPS or corner cutting.

Who is it for?

Time Machine is a great choice if you can already solve a 2x2 or 3x3 and want something different from yet another classic cube. It looks great on a shelf next to other unusual puzzles and can make a fun gift for a younger cuber. For a very first cube, it's better to choose a regular 2x2 or 3x3. Once a child has mastered the basics, Time Machine is a good next step.
