VeryPuzzle Classical Tuttminx v2

It looks a lot like a football. VeryPuzzle Classical Tuttminx v2 is a twisty puzzle shaped like a truncated icosahedron with 32 faces: 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons. Every face is an axis of rotation, so the puzzle has 32 axes. The pentagons turn by 72°, just like on a Megaminx, and the hexagons by 120°. This is the second version of the classic Tuttminx from VeryPuzzle, released in 2024.

How the Tuttminx works

The face centers are fixed. Each move turns a face center together with the surrounding edges and corners. There are 150 moving pieces to solve: 60 corners, 60 edges next to the pentagonal faces and 30 edges between the hexagonal faces. For comparison, a 3x3 cube has 20 moving pieces. Solving it feels like an extended Megaminx: there are many more pieces, and the edges between the hexagons are a challenge of their own. If you can already solve a Megaminx, you will find this puzzle easier to understand.

Mechanism and turning

The Classical Tuttminx v2 has no magnets. With this many axes, you can't expect it to turn like a speedcube either. Still, buyers often say that it turns surprisingly well for a non-magnetic puzzle. With a puzzle this big, it's worth turning calmly and keeping the layers aligned. Lube can make the turning smoother.

Who is it for?

For puzzle collectors and cubers who already know the Megaminx and want to try something bigger from the same family. It's more of a project for a few evenings than a puzzle for setting times. It also looks great as a desk decoration. We don't recommend it as your first puzzle.
