VeryPuzzle DIRT-CL1 (#93) is a collector's sphere puzzle created from DIRT V1.0 through cloverization (axis-splitting). It has 122 axes of rotation and a 72-colour scheme. The manufacturer sells it as a DIY kit for you to assemble and sticker yourself, in a black-body version.
VeryPuzzle DIRT-CL1 is a spherical collector's puzzle, numbered #93 by the manufacturer. It is not a speedcubing cube. This model is for people who collect unusual twisty puzzles and enjoy long, demanding solves. Our shop offers the version with a black body.
It is based on VeryPuzzle #80 DIRT V1.0. That sphere has 62 axes of rotation from three systems: Dodecahedral, Icosahedral and Rhombic Triacontahedral. The name DIRT comes from these. In practice, this means you can turn sections corresponding to the faces, edges and vertices of a dodecahedron.
In DIRT-CL1, the manufacturer applied cloverization, i.e. axis-splitting. This increases the number of axes from 62 to 122. The sphere is divided into many more pieces than DIRT V1.0, and the full colour scheme uses 72 colours. Just working out where a given piece should go is much harder than on the base version.
The manufacturer sells #93 as a DIY kit. You assemble the puzzle and apply the stickers yourself, using the instructions and the sticker template available for download from VeryPuzzle. Assembling and stickering a 72-colour sphere takes a lot of time and patience. For many collectors, that is simply part of the fun.
VeryPuzzle also offers #94 DIRT-CL1-F1. This is a fragmentation version based on the same model. The #93 described here is the basic CL1 variant, without additional fragmentation.
DIRT-CL1 is for experienced puzzle collectors who have already tackled Megaminxes and spheres with more axes, such as DIRT V1.0, and are looking for something far more complex. For a child's gift or your first puzzle beyond the 3x3, choose something simpler. It is not suitable for speedsolving either: this is a model for unhurried solving and for your collection.
