VeryPuzzle DIRT-CL1-F1 (#94)

This spherical puzzle is made for collectors who have already worked through plenty of unusual puzzles. VeryPuzzle DIRT-CL1-F1 is number #94 in the manufacturer's catalogue. It is the fragmentation version of model #93 DIRT-CL1, which was in turn derived from DIRT V1.0 (#80). It has 122 axes of rotation, and its colour scheme uses 72 colours. We offer the black-body version.

From DIRT V1.0 to DIRT-CL1-F1

The series is based on DIRT V1.0. This puzzle combines three axis systems in a single sphere: the dodecahedron, the icosahedron and the rhombic triacontahedron. In practice, you turn it like a face-turning, edge-turning and corner-turning dodecahedron all at once. That gives 62 axes.

In DIRT-CL1, VeryPuzzle applied cloverization, i.e. axis-splitting. This increased the number of axes to 122. DIRT-CL1-F1 takes it one step further. It keeps the same 122-axis system but adds fragmentation: extra cuts that divide the puzzle into more pieces.

Which DIRT version should you choose?

• DIRT V1.0 (#80): 62 axes and three combined axis systems. The best place to start the series.
• DIRT-CL1 (#93): a cloverization of DIRT V1.0 with 122 axes of rotation.
• DIRT-CL1-F1 (#94): the fragmentation version of model #93. It has the same number of axes but more cuts, making it the most complex of the three.

If you are not yet familiar with this family, it makes more sense to start with DIRT V1.0. The F1 version is best suited to those who already own DIRT-CL1 or are deliberately looking for the hardest version.

Who is it for?

This is not a speedcubing puzzle, and it is not suitable as a first puzzle or as a gift for a child who is just starting out. DIRT-CL1-F1 is a puzzle for experienced solvers and collectors who have already tackled the Megaminx, larger minxes and other puzzles with many axes. With this many axes and pieces, expect to work out the solution on your own, usually with the help of commutators. The manufacturer provides a PDF guide for model #94 on its website.
