VeryPuzzle Icosahedron 77 is a puzzle for collectors and for anyone who has mastered the Megaminx and wants something less ordinary. VeryPuzzle mainly makes unusual twisty puzzles built around different axis systems. The Icosahedron 77 belongs to a series based on the geometry of the icosahedron, a solid with 20 faces. We stock the Black version: black plastic with stickers for the colors.

What is the Icosahedron 77?

According to the manufacturer, this model is a variant of the Icosahedron V1.0 puzzle with 4 cuts added on some of the faces. As a result, there are more pieces on the surface, and solving it is more involved than solving the base model. In the same series, VeryPuzzle also released the Icosahedron Chaotic, a V1.0 version with a different set of extra cuts. All three models (V1.0, Chaotic and 77) use the same axis system. They differ in where the cuts are placed, so they also end up with different numbers and shapes of pieces.

How do you solve it?

This is not a puzzle for setting fast times or training your TPS. For the base Icosahedron V1.0, the manufacturer reminds users about the turning rules. With puzzles of this type, you need to know which moves are possible at any given moment and align the layers carefully. You can't simply carry over methods from the 3x3 cube or the Megaminx. You have to work out the solution yourself or develop it based on what you know about similar puzzles. Think of it as a project for long evenings rather than a cube for everyday solving.

Who is it for?

The Icosahedron 77 is best suited to people who collect unusual puzzles, or who already know the Megaminx, the Tuttminx or other dodecahedral puzzles and want to try a different axis system. If you're just starting out, this model may put you off. For a child's first puzzle, a classic 3x3 cube or a Pyraminx is a better choice.
