VeryPuzzle Megaminx Ball V1.0 - C1 is a spherical puzzle based on the Megaminx, with one big change: two opposite faces are hexagonal instead of pentagonal. Because of this, it solves completely differently from a regular Megaminx. The puzzle was designed by Leslie Le, and VeryPuzzle started producing it in 2019. We offer the black plastic version.

How the C1 differs from the regular Megaminx Ball

The standard Megaminx Ball V1.0 has the classic layout of twelve pentagonal faces, just in the shape of a ball. In the C1 version, two opposite faces have been replaced with hexagonal ones. The axes of rotation are the same as on a Megaminx, but the hexagonal faces can be turned by 60°. After such a move, the cut lines of adjacent layers no longer line up, and some moves temporarily become impossible. This is a jumbling puzzle: pieces move in ways that cannot be achieved on a regular Megaminx.

In practice, your knowledge of Megaminx methods will only help you partly. The key is to keep track of the orientation of the hexagonal faces, because it determines which layers can turn at any given moment. If you get stuck, a full C1 tutorial in English is available on YouTube.

Stickers and mechanism

• You apply the stickers yourself. The puzzle comes stickerless, with a sticker sheet in 14 colors included. You choose 12 of them, so you can create your own color scheme.
• Recessed sticker areas. The stickers sit below the surface of the ball, so they wear off more slowly.
• Springs in the core. Tension cannot be adjusted from the outside. The puzzle is factory set.

Who is it for?

For those who have already mastered the regular Megaminx and want to try something more unusual, and for twisty puzzle collectors. The spherical shape and jumbling make it a puzzle for calmly figuring out rather than for breaking time records. For your first adventure with dodecahedral puzzles, a classic Megaminx is a better choice.
