VeryPuzzle Rhombic Tuttminx 66

VeryPuzzle Rhombic Tuttminx 66 is a spherical puzzle designed by Leslie Le and released by VeryPuzzle in 2019. It is based on the Rhombic Tuttminx, a puzzle that combines the turning axes of a dodecahedron (as in the Megaminx) with 30 additional rhombic axes. In the "66" version, the manufacturer replaced the 12 pentagonal faces with hexagonal ones. The other 30 cuts remain unchanged. With more than 260 moving pieces, this is a collector's puzzle, not a speedcubing cube.

How it differs from the regular Rhombic Tuttminx

On the classic Rhombic Tuttminx, you turn 12 pentagonal faces and 30 rhombic faces. On the 66 version, the same 12 axes carry hexagonal faces. The cuts are shallow enough that neighbouring hexagons do not overlap. This changes how the pieces are divided and how the puzzle is solved, so experience with the regular Rhombic Tuttminx will help, but it won't be enough. VeryPuzzle used a similar approach in the Spherical Tuttminx 66, except that one was based on a regular Tuttminx in spherical form.

How to solve it

It's best to treat it as a long-term project rather than a one-evening puzzle. A full scramble alone takes quite a while, and solving it requires methods known from the Megaminx and Tuttminx, plus patience with the large number of similar-looking pieces. The manufacturer provides instructions, and there is also a video online with a complete step-by-step solution.

VeryPuzzle sells this model as a kit that you assemble and sticker yourself following the instructions. The kit includes:

Who is it for?

For collectors and anyone who has already solved the Megaminx and other puzzles from the minx family and is now looking for something far more complex. We don't recommend it as a first puzzle or as a gift for a child who is just learning to solve the 3x3.
