VeryPuzzle Tuttminx F2 (manufacturer's catalogue number #89) is a spherical version of the Tuttminx with extra cuts on the pentagonal faces. It's a puzzle for people who have already mastered the Megaminx and are looking for something bigger and less obvious. This is not a speedcube. The Tuttminx F2 is a collector's puzzle where you spend more time thinking than turning fast.

What is a Tuttminx?

The Tuttminx is based on a truncated icosahedron, a shape similar to a football. It has 32 faces: 12 pentagonal ones, like on a Megaminx, and 20 hexagonal ones. A pentagonal face turns in 72-degree steps and a hexagonal face in 120-degree steps. That's why the Tuttminx is much more complex than the Megaminx, even though some of the solving principles are similar.

What the F2 version changes

The Tuttminx F2 uses the same axis system as the regular Tuttminx. The difference lies in the extra cuts on the pentagonal faces. They split the faces into more pieces, so new types of pieces appear that you need to put in place. The shape is spherical rather than flat-faced like the classic Tuttminx.

The counterpart of this puzzle is the Tuttminx F1. In that model the extra cuts are on the hexagonal faces instead of the pentagonal ones. Both models share the same idea, but they are solved differently. If you already own one of these versions, the other one makes a great addition to your collection.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already solve the Megaminx and other minx-type puzzles and are now looking for a puzzle for calm, longer solving sessions. Knowing commutators and being able to work out a new puzzle on your own will come in handy, as there are few ready-made tutorials for models like this. For beginners, or as a gift for a child just getting into cubes, the classic Megaminx is a better choice. The Tuttminx F2 also looks great on the shelf in a collection of VeryPuzzle puzzles.
