The WitEden 2x2x6 tower is a cuboid with six layers along the vertical axis and two along the other axes. WitEden 2x2x6 has all pieces of the same size, each one a small cube. As a result, the whole puzzle measures 51 x 51 x 153 mm and looks like three 2x2 cubes stacked on top of each other. We offer it with a black body.

How this 2x2x6 cuboid solves

Turns around the long axis work just like on a regular cube. Things get more interesting when you turn the longer faces. Since all pieces are the same size, these faces can also turn by 90°, and then the tower changes its shape, meaning it shape-shifts. With six layers, solving is noticeably harder than on a 2x2 or 2x2x3. It also calls for a different approach to parity and to positioning pieces along the long axis.

Users praise its smooth turning and solid build. It turns with a distinctive, slightly "scratchy" sound. To be honest, though, this is a puzzle for fun and collecting, not a speedcube. It has no magnets, and given its length, the outer layers can wobble slightly when shape-shifted. Forcing turns can cause popping. Pieces that pop out can usually be pushed back in by hand. Lubing improves turning smoothness.

2x2x6 or 2x2x6 II?

WitEden also offers the 2x2x6 II model, in which the core is offset from the centre. This product is the classic version with a centrally placed mechanism, so it is more predictable and better suited as your first 2x2xN tower.

Who is it for?

For those who can already solve NxNxN cubes and want to try something different. It is also a great pick for cuboid collectors and fans of shape-shifting puzzles. On the tall tower you can clearly see where each piece is, and it looks great on a shelf too. For a child's first cube, a regular 2x2 or 3x3 is a better choice.
