WitEden 3x3x13 I is a full-function cuboid. You can turn each of the 13 layers along the long axis independently, and the other faces also turn without restrictions. This puzzle is not a cube, so most moves change its shape. After a few side turns, it looks completely different from how it came out of the box. It is a collector's puzzle and a challenge for fans of unusual puzzles rather than a cube for speedsolving.

How it solves

Turning the 3x3 faces does not change the shape. A 90-degree turn of a side face immediately transforms the cuboid into a differently shaped solid, and that is where the real challenge begins. With this many layers, the mechanism has to be complex, and you can feel it when you use the puzzle. Turning is not as smooth as on a regular 3x3, and careless moves cause instability and catching. It works best if you turn calmly and align the layers carefully before the next move. If you expect the feel of a speed cube, you will be disappointed. You buy this model for its design and for an interesting solve.

Tension adjustment

The cuboid has adjustment screws, so you can fine-tune the tension a little. With such a complex mechanism, it is best to adjust it carefully and in small steps.

Who is it for?

For collectors of cuboids and shape-shifting puzzles, and for people who can already solve the 3x3 and bigger cubes with ease and are looking for something completely different. This model is not suitable as a first puzzle, including for a child. It is better to start with a classic 3x3 cube or a smaller cuboid, e.g. the 3x3x5. This model is not legal for official WCA competitions.
