The WitEden 3x3x13 II is a cuboid for collectors who want something truly unusual.

From the top it looks like a regular 3x3 cube, but vertically it has 13 thin layers. Each layer can be turned on its own. The puzzle is not a cube, so it changes shape quickly after just a few moves. Scrambling it fully can be a challenge in itself.

What makes version II different?

Some of the middle pieces are rotated 90 degrees relative to the rest. As a result, the middle layer is split perpendicular to the others. This makes the puzzle change shape even more than version I, and solving it takes more thinking. If you just want a tall cuboid without rotated pieces, consider the WitEden 3x3x13 I.

How does it turn?

To be honest, with such a complex design the turning is nowhere near modern 3x3 cubes. The thin layers are hard to grip one at a time. Inaccurate moves easily cause lockups, and corner cutting is practically non-existent. You need to turn calmly and keep the layers aligned. The mechanism has adjustment screws, so you can fine-tune the tension a little. Don't expect miracles, though. This is not a cube for speedsolving or timed solves.

Who is it for?

For collectors of cuboids and shape-shifting puzzles. Also for people who can already solve the classic cube and are looking for a puzzle that tests logic more than dexterity. For a first cube or a gift for a beginner child, a simpler cuboid or a regular 3x3 is a better choice. This puzzle is not allowed in official competitions.
