WitEden Camouflage 4x4x3 is a cuboid from the Camouflage series. From a distance it looks like a regular 4x4x3 cube, but in this series the outer cuts don't always match how the mechanism works inside. Because of this, the puzzle can block certain moves (bandaging) and change shape while you solve it. It's a puzzle for people who already know a few cuboids and are looking for something that makes them think, not just execute memorized algorithms.

What the "camouflage" is about

In the Camouflage series, WitEden hides a different internal arrangement of pieces than the one you see on the outside. So first you have to work out which moves are possible in a given position, and only then plan your next steps. Knowing 4x4 and 3x3 helps a lot, but on its own it's not enough. Some moves are blocked, and once scrambled the cube no longer looks like a cuboid, so you also have to restore its shape.

How it turns

The Camouflage series is made for relaxed solving and for collections, not for speedcubing. The cube has no magnets and no tension adjustment. Opinions on other models from this series are mixed: some people praise the smooth turning, while others complain about loose feel and lockups when the layers aren't precisely aligned. It's a good idea to align the layers before turning. WitEden cuboids usually turn noticeably better after lubing, so it's worth having lube at hand from day one.

Who is it for?

For collectors of unusual puzzles and for cubers who are bored with regular cuboids and want to try bandaged puzzles. For a child's first cube, or for someone who is just learning the 3x3, it's better to choose a simpler model. This puzzle requires you to understand the mechanism, and without cubing experience it's easy to get discouraged.
